Chapter 143: Urban Management’s Might
Chapter 143: Urban Management’s Might
Arrows fell like rain.
But the location of the bodies was far from the Nine-Nation Alliance’s position, well beyond the effective range of the bows. The scattered arrows all landed crookedly on the ground, like a light drizzle. They posed no threat to Sun Fei and the others.
The Big Black Dog barked excitedly, darting back and forth with Sun Fei on its back like a streak of black smoke. Each round trip allowed it to carry back six bodies. The other Urban Management members from Shampoo City were equally impressive, each grabbing two corpses, picking up shields and spears from the ground, and rushing back.
In less than ten minutes, all one hundred deceased Redwater Kingdom spear and shield infantrymen had been hauled back into Shampoo City’s formation.
These guys were truly infuriating. They did not leave a single helmet behind for the King of Redwater.
After everyone had withdrawn behind their lines, His Majesty the King, still mounted on the Big Black Dog, stood up and yelled, “Hey, hey! Lord God of War teaches us that wastefulness is unforgivable. Quick, there’s still one spear left over there—go grab it!”
Two Urban Management members, thin as bamboo poles, immediately rushed back upon hearing this. They snatched up the last lone spear stuck in the ground, waved it boastfully toward the distant allied kings, then turned around, pulled down their pants, and smacked their bare buttocks contemptuously at the esteemed kings.
Watching the straw sandals floating in the air above the distant battlefield, the King of Redwater wept bitterly, almost crying out loud.
Shampoo City’s Urban Management was simply a band of opportunistic bandits, a swarm of locusts that left nothing behind, and a pack of desperate gophers. Wherever they passed, everything was stripped bare—not even a strand of hair remained. Now, only scraps of grass swirled in the middle of the battlefield, with patches of bloodstains on the ground. Aside from that, there was nothing left.
How shameless!
The allied kings were dumbfounded.
Of course, the alliance had not been idle during this process; they attempted counter-measures.
But Shampoo City’s fifty Zhebie archers were too formidable. Their fifty bows were like fifty Death’s Scythes, firmly suppressing over two thousand men. Anyone who dared to advance even a step was immediately shot into a pincushion. Even the alliance’s own archers were completely suppressed. As for other troop types, even holding giant shields was useless. These arrows seemed to have eyes, slipping through shield gaps, viewing ports, and even underfoot—wherever least expected. A single hit meant certain death, without exception.
Two thousand fierce soldiers could only watch helplessly as Shampoo City’s Urban Management plundered everything.
By the time Shampoo City had hauled all the corpses back to their own lines, Redwater City’s hundred Flame God Iron Hooves had circled far away, over a kilometer distant. They were regrouping to the sound of horns, preparing to launch a hoof-stomping charge. These heavily armored cavalry, unafraid of archers, were stationed too far away and were of no help from start to finish.
The morale of the Nine-Nation Alliance plummeted like a stock chart poisoned by arsenic!
In contrast, the atmosphere in Shampoo City’s formation was the complete opposite.
Over fifty victorious Urban Management members, right in front of the Nine-Nation Alliance, laughingly stripped the light armor from the fallen Redwater Kingdom soldiers and put it on themselves. They picked up the kite shields, gripped the spears tightly, and in moments transformed from scattered rabble armed with kitchen knives and firewood axes into a fully equipped, spirited elite infantry phalanx, chanting unified slogans.
Sun Fei was delighted.
He thought to himself, naming these brats ‘Urban Management’ back then was a damn wise and foresighted move. At least in the Domain of plundering, these brats truly lived up to the great name.
“Haha, thank the King of Redwater for his generous gift of equipment!” Sun Fei ordered, intending to provoke the already enraged King of Redwater.
“Thank you, King of Redwater, for the spears, shields, and armor!”
“Haha, this armor is truly mighty!”
“Hey, it’s just missing a longsword. Generous King of Redwater, could you send one over too?”
It turned out the Urban Management members were even more malicious than Sun Fei. Their shouts carried across, and many on the alliance side were so furious that smoke seemed to billow from their heads. These guys really deserved a beating.
“Aaaaaah!” The King of Redwater was driven mad, babbling incoherently like he was having a seizure. He couldn’t wait for the Flame God Iron Hooves heavy cavalry to arrive. Suddenly trembling, he grabbed the King of Shenhua Kingdom by the throat and screamed, “Attack now! Order your heavy infantry to charge! Charge now!”
The King of Shenhua Kingdom indeed commanded a heavy infantry unit of over two hundred.
Though heavy infantry moved slowly, their armor coverage was comprehensive. If they lowered their visors to protect their faces, aside from their wrists and lower legs being vulnerable to arrows, the iron armor on other parts could block all arrows. By risking the arrow shower and pushing forward, they could probably reach Shampoo City’s archers and cut them down before losing half their men. But the problem was, the King of Shenhua Kingdom was reluctant. Those two hundred heavy infantry were his prized troops.
However, facing the furious and irrational King of Redwater, he had to yield.
Under the threat of violence, even his prized troops had to be sacrificed. Otherwise, as a mere Fifth-Class Vassal State, offending a third-class major power like Redwater City would have dire consequences.
Just as the King of Shenhua Kingdom, heart bleeding, was about to order his heavy infantry to advance, an unexpected change occurred on the opposite side—the fifty Zhebie-level archers suddenly slung their Longbows, split into two groups, and jogged away to both flanks, actually abandoning their position and running off.
“Oh no… my finger’s cut, it hurts too much, I can’t shoot!”
“Yeah, let’s run for our lives!”
The allied kings faintly heard some of the fleeing archers wailing while shaking their fingers. Then those archers bolted like startled rabbits, diving into the grassy hills in the distance and quickly disappearing from sight.
The King of Redwater and the King of Shenhua Kingdom stared at each other in a daze.
Everyone was stupefied by this bewildering scene.
Everything that had happened today before Shampoo City had robbed the alliance leaders of their ability to think.
They were being driven insane by their opponents!
“Charge! Advance now!” The King of Shenhua Kingdom was the first to react. Whether it was a trick by that idiot King of Shampoo City or not, those fifty ‘Gods of Death’ were finally gone. Everyone in the alliance felt the sky suddenly turn blue, the air freshen, and the mountain pressing on their heads vanish. They could finally breathe easily.
“Who cares if it’s a trick? Seize this chance to crush Shampoo City first. Even if those fifty archers return later, they won’t cause much trouble!”
This was almost the unanimous thought of every allied king.
Upon receiving the order, Shenhua Kingdom’s over two hundred heavy infantry gripped their double-edged broadswords and marched forward in sync. This was a terrifying steel tide; the very ground trembled under their feet. At the head of the phalanx was a general over two meters tall. Earth Elemental Combat Aura flickered beneath his armor—he was a Two-Star Level earth elemental combat aura expert.
“Attack!” the earth Warrior snarled.
With no threat from Shampoo City’s archers, the heavy infantry strutted proudly like generals, without a care. They lifted their helmet visors, marching in step while beating their breastplates with their broadswords. The unified metallic clashes soared skyward, their murderous aura terrifying.
This was indeed an elite phalanx not to be underestimated.
Apart from their formation being slightly loose and their demeanor a bit too arrogant, in terms of pressure and impact, they almost matched the previous Black Armored Army’s infantry phalanx. It seemed Shenhua Kingdom had some foundation, which made Shampoo City seem even shabbier in comparison.
“Charge, charge, charge!”
Seeing the opportunity, the Crown Prince of Luneng Kingdom also excitedly waved his sword, ordering his own hundred-man broadswordsmen phalanx to follow Shenhua Kingdom’s heavy infantry and charge. The dozens of beautiful young maidens on the six carriages opposite had stirred his beastly blood. He longed to rush over, capture them all for his harem, and ravage them mercilessly.
Witnessing this, the other kings grew excited too.
When faced with the fifty Zhebie-level archers, none had wanted to be the first to act. But when faced with huge benefits, no one wanted to fall behind. Everyone feared missing out, wanting to be the first into Shampoo City to plunder freely and claim the beauties on the six carriages.
“Charge! Capture the King of Shampoo City alive!”
“Kill! Whatever you grab is yours!”
“Hahaha, lads, see those little vixens on the carriages? There’s enough for everyone!”
At this moment, all the men in the alliance were fired up. Victory seemed within reach. Even the usually dignified and elegant Noble kings revealed their coarseness and savagery, spewing vulgar phrases to boost morale, their faces twisted like greedy demons crawling out of Hell.
“Catch that Little King! I’ll make his skull into a drinking cup!! Wipe out the Shampoo City royal line in flames!!” The King of Redwater, who had lost over a hundred spear and shield infantrymen, uttered a venomous curse.
