Chapter 37: Mage, Paladin, and Necromancer

A mysterious ice-cold voice rang in Sun Fei’s head, quickly giving the answer.

He lost 29,000 Gold Coins and finally got two Health Potions and one Stamina Potion. This result made him feel upset. He had been prepared before, but it was still a big loss.

But when he thought about the low success rate, getting two Health Potions and one Stamina Potion was not too bad.

He took a deep breath and checked the time.

He had less than two hours left before the four-hour game time limit. He quickly chose to exit the Barbarian character. A feeling like passing through a time tunnel made him dizzy. In an instant, he was back in the 3D hologram selection screen, where he was before entering the World of Diablo.

Now, Sun Fei noticed some small changes in the 3D hologram screen—the equipment on his Barbarian character looked like it was for level 12. He appeared braver and stronger, clearly more powerful than the other six zero-level game characters nearby.

It seemed everything on the screen matched what happened in the Diablo World.

Sun Fei tried again and found he could only have one game account per character. With Barbarian and Sorceress already in the Diablo World, he could not make a second account for those characters, unlike in the computer games of his past life.

This maybe meant something.

But Sun Fei did not have much time to think.

He thought about it and chose the Mage character. Then he quickly entered the Diablo World.

After a soft humming sound, he felt dizzy as if passing through a time tunnel. Sun Fei arrived at the Rogue Encampment, the beginner map of the World of Diablo.

After looking carefully, Sun Fei saw this camp seemed to be another parallel space, different from when he was the Barbarian character. The story progress was still at the start. Tasks like “Defeat the Evil in Den of Evil,” “Kill the Traitor: Blood Raven,” and “Rescue Kane” were not done yet. Everything waited for Sun Fei to complete again using his Mage character.

Because he had a lot of experience from playing as a Barbarian, Sun Fei got busy fast. He quickly took the task to wipe out monsters in Den of Evil. Then he rushed into the Blood Moor and started his plan to level up the Mage character.

After thirty minutes.

‘Mage Sun Fei’ finished the first beginner task and returned from the Blood Moor. He reported to Nun Auntie Acarra and got one skill point as a reward.

By now, Sun Fei had leveled his Mage character to level three.

While hunting monsters and demons in the Blood Moor, some items dropped. These included ordinary leather armor, gloves, and leather hats. He equipped what he could use and stored the rest to sell.

He had four saved-up skill points now.

Sun Fei thought for a moment. He used the four points: one on the fire spell Firebolt, one on the lightning spell Charged Bolt, and two on the ice spell Ice Bolt.

After doing this, Sun Fei did not go back to hunt monsters in the wilderness.

He chose to exit the Diablo World again and go to the 3D hologram selection screen. This time, he selected the Paladin character and entered the Diablo World at once.

He felt dizzy and passed through a time tunnel.

He was in the Rogue Encampment again.

As expected, this was another parallel space.

In this Rogue Encampment, all the story and tasks were at the start. Nun Auntie Acarra gave the beginner task to defeat demons in Den of Evil.

‘Paladin Sun Fei’ rushed urgently to the Blood Moor for the task.

Thanks to his experience as ‘Barbarian Sun Fei’ and ‘Mage Sun Fei,’ he did this faster and smoother. In less than fifteen minutes, ‘Paladin Sun Fei’ killed all demons and monsters in Den of Evil. He even found time to sweep through the Blood Moor. Everywhere he went, he carried out a firm three-light policy: kill all monsters, steal all Gold Coins, and pick up all equipment.

By the time he returned to the Rogue Encampment, he had reached level three.

He finished the task and got one skill point from Acarra. This gave him a total of four skill points.

Sun Fei looked at the Paladin’s skill tree and thought a bit. He finally chose to add two points to the Might skill, which increases damage for you and team members in a range. Then he added two points to the Prayer skill, which heals health for you and your team within a distance.

He checked the time and saw less than thirty minutes of game time was left.

He quickly exited the Diablo World and went to the 3D hologram selection screen. This time, he chose the Necromancer character. With a soft humming sound, he felt dizzy as if passing through a time tunnel. Sun Fei entered the World of Diablo again.

Rogue Encampment.

Another parallel game space.

‘Necromancer Sun Fei’ got the task from Nun Auntie Acarra. Then he rushed anxiously to Den of Evil in the Blood Moor for the task.

Since this was the fourth time doing the same task, he was much faster. In less than ten minutes, he defeated the Den of Evil boss and returned to the Rogue Encampment.

By now, he had leveled the Necromancer character to level three.

Sun Fei started assigning points.

In the Necromancer’s starting gear, there was a wand that added one point to Raise Skeleton. This let him summon a skeleton soldier from monster corpses to fight. With his four fresh skill points, Sun Fei put three on Poison Dagger, which calls poisonous blades to hurt enemies, and one on Amplify Damage, which curses a group of enemies to take more harm.

He made this choice because he needed these skills for real-world battles coming up.

But what Sun Fei really wanted was the Corpse Explosion skill.

He thought about the Holy Church’s existence in the real world. Things like Necromancers might be seen as evil. If found out, they could be called evil heretics, just like in past times when people were burned at the stake.

Even though this was just a guess, Sun Fei had to be careful.

After all, based on what Brook and Angela said, the Holy Church was incredibly strong on the Azeroth Continent. Until he grew strong too, it was best not to cause problems.

So skills with clear Necromancer traits, like Raise Skeleton, could not be used openly in the real world. But the Corpse Explosion skill was very hidden and could have a big effect in war. When armies fight, dead bodies are everywhere. To a Necromancer, they are like exploding grenades, causing huge damage that would shock enemies and cause chaos.

That’s why Sun Fei chose the Necromancer, a risky job, even though the Holy Church was on the Azeroth Continent. He did it for the Corpse Explosion skill.

But while assigning points just now, Sun Fei realized something terrible—he could only learn the Corpse Explosion skill after reaching level six.

Sun Fei checked the time.

Less than thirty minutes of game time remained. Boosting the character from level three to six in that short time was very tough, unless he found a super hunting spot with many monster demons gathered.

After thinking, Sun Fei decided to kill Blood Raven.

The Cold Plains cemetery where Blood Raven was had many monsters. These were higher-level monsters with great experience points. At level three Necromancer, it was a bit risky. But Sun Fei had built experience from playing as Barbarian. If he prepared well and was careful, it should be fine.

With big enemies approaching in the real world and danger ahead, Sun Fei had to take a chance.

After getting the task from Kashya, the battle leader at Rogue Encampment, Sun Fei spent his last 800 Gold Coins. He bought Minor Healing Potions, Minor Mana Potions, Stamina Potions, and other needed items. Then he set off right away.

Now it was nighttime in the Diablo World.

Darkness filled the wilderness, and faint demon roars could be heard.

After leaving Rogue Encampment, Sun Fei drank one Stamina Potion. He faced the direction and sprinted straight toward the cemetery in Cold Plains. Monsters nearby roared loudly as he passed. Sun Fei ignored them; he had to use every second fast.

But soon, something unexpected happened.

At night, monster demons in the wilderness seemed very active. They were easily provoked and went wild after he stirred them. It was like they took pills and saw a great beauty running around with no clothes. Their eyes turned sharp, and they screamed excitedly, chasing Sun Fei hard without stopping.

More and more monsters joined them fast—Fallen, Dark Huntresses, Big Horners… The creatures formed a huge monster parade, following right behind Sun Fei.
