Chapter 9: Invincible with Me
Chapter 9: Invincible with Me
Sun Fei had witnessed the entire heroic scene from afar—Pierce with his white hair desperately destroying the siege ladder without regard for his own life. It stirred Sun Fei’s blood. At the crucial moment, using that bizarre method of throwing living people, he managed to save Pierce’s life.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh—!
The great axe, carrying terrifying force, turned into a blur of black light.
Where it passed, the Black-Armored Soldiers were instantly cleared out like rice being cut down.
“Well done, warrior! I’m Brook, Squadron Leader of the Royal Guard. Who are you? I don’t think I’ve seen you before…” Brook, the dark-haired giant struggling with an opponent while wielding his Two-Handed Broadsword, shouted in surprised joy seeing Pierce rescued.
The sudden savior shattered the delicate balance on the battlefield.
Hope for Shampoo City quietly arrived.
“Squadron Leader Brook? Haha! You’ll soon know who I am!”
Sun Fei, the beast, played coy with a smug laugh.
Long accustomed to killing in the World of Diablo, the sight of blood, shouts, cries, and shrieks here felt no different from monsters falling in Diablo’s world. Thrown into the battlefield, Sun Fei felt no discomfort whatsoever.
If anything, the scene made his blood boil with excitement.
Everyone, even the lowliest beggar, has dreamt of becoming a hero protecting their homeland in their youth. Sun Fei was now living out this childhood hero fantasy. So, even though his Great Axe cruelly harvested lives like Death’s Scythe, he felt no guilt afterward.
Killing to save others.
On the battlefield, it’s that simple.
He escorted several soldiers carrying Pierce down the city wall, then turned and charged back into the enemy ranks.
The refined axe skills and furious Might of a Level 5 Barbarian meant Sun Fei had no equal among these ordinary soldiers. His path was marked by wails of terror and misery. He soon reached the vicinity of the last siege ladder.
The Great Axe whistled through the air, trailing a bloodthirsty black light.
Amid screams, the last few Black-Armored Soldiers desperately guarding the ladder were sent flying off the wall by a single sweeping blow from Sun Fei’s axe, shrieking as they fell far below…
The axe’s momentum didn’t diminish.
BOOM!
The back of the axe smashed into the stone merlon atop the wall.
Instantly, dust flew and sparks erupted.
The thirty-centimeter-thick stone merlon cracked and shattered. Massive chunks of The Rock tumbled roaring down the wall, raising clouds of dust, creating a scene like a mountain collapsing.
The enormous siege ladder hooked onto the merlon was struck by the terrifying force of the blow. It flew outward, along with enemy soldiers still climbing it, spinning a full 360 degrees through the air before crashing far below into the Zuli River hundreds of meters away—utterly destroyed!
Divine Power!
The fighters locked in deadly struggle on the wall were stunned once more.
The King’s Royal Guard, defending the city, found their courage swelling and morale sky-high, spurred by the new ally’s insane feat. The attacking Black-Armored Soldiers, however, trembled in fear at the horrific Might displayed in those few axe swings.
And Sun Fei, this reckless fool, reveled in stealing the show and grandstanding.
His next move and words propelled the role of individual heroism on the battlefield to an unimaginable peak—
“Soldiers of the King! Fight! For our homes! For our aged fathers and mothers! For our wives and children!”
After his successful blow, the fool raised his axe high like a Demon God descending. Bathed in the setting sun, his golden-glinting figure seemed an invincible God of War.
Having spoken, Sun Fei suddenly threw back his head and roared at the sky.
And within that roar, a strange mutation occurred—
A strange, invisible power erupted from Sun Fei’s bellow, raging outward like monstrous waves.
And soon, the impossible happened—
Within five meters of Sun Fei, all Black-Armored Soldiers reacted as if they’d suddenly glimpsed something unimaginably terrifying. They dropped their weapons, clutched their heads, screamed in abject terror, and fled in panic…
Several, fleeing blindly, stumbled and leaped straight off the sixty-meter-high wall!
Barbarian skill: Howl.
One Howl, and nearby enemies fled in terror.
The wondrous powers of Diablo had finally descended upon this world.
Of course, only Sun Fei knew this.
Everyone else was dumbstruck.
What power was this?
The power of a god?
A stunned silence fell over the wall.
On the wall, beneath the setting sun.
Everyone could sense something powerful, something unstoppable, ready to burst forth from deep within the hearts of Shampoo City’s defenders!
The next moment.
Finally—
Someone, following Sun Fei’s lead, instinctively murmured in a low voice: “Fight. For our homes. For our aged fathers and mothers.”
That small echo was like a spark landing in gasoline.
Instantly, the blood of the warriors defending Shampoo City’s homes boiled over uncontrollably, blazing like an eternal flame.
“FIGHT!!”
“FIGHT! FOR US…”
“FIGHT! FIGHT!! FIGHT! FIGHT!!!”
Wave after wave of roars released a truly heart-shaking force, like the most incredible Magic in the world, spreading through the battlefield with miraculous speed.
Soon, nearly every soldier of Shampoo City on the wall was roaring.
Morale surged!
Arrows were pulled from shoulders, flesh tearing. Farmers with wounded thighs, moaning in pain, rose with bloodshot eyes and bit enemy thighs. The old man stabbed through the heart used his last sliver of strength to drive his chopping knife into an enemy’s skull…
An unprecedented force, kindled by that roar to the heavens, arrived at this moment.
The tide began to turn irresistibly in favor of the defenders.
Deprived of their siege ladders with no reinforcements, the Black-Armored Soldiers stranded on the wall were trapped in a jar, with no escape route. Amidst flashing blades, some were simply scared witless, shrieking and turning to flee, leaping from the wall…
They judged that leaping offered a sliver of survival.
Staying on the wall meant facing opponents who suddenly seemed injected with chicken blood, savage beyond reason—certain death, or worse. One Black-Armored Soldier was literally bit to death by several wounded soldiers using their teeth!
Such is war.
Such is a hero!
A great fighter can slay countless foes, but there is one called a hero—this kind of fellow can innately inspire hearts. Every gesture, every word, every glance can ignite hope and courage in their comrades!
And Sun Fei, in his moment of grandstanding, had just done all of this, all quite unintentionally!
After the roar, Sun Fei’s Great Axe resumed harvesting the lives of the Black-Armored Soldiers. Broken swords, shattered blades, smashed plates of armor, dented helmets—they scattered through the air… Wherever Sun Fei passed, enemies screamed and blood flowed freely!
Ten steps, one slain; leaving no trace through a thousand miles.
With an irresistible aura, Sun Fei swiftly barreled toward the gatehouse on the main wall.
There, the dark-haired giant Brook was locked in a fierce struggle with a Black-Armored Soldier wielding a Knight’s rapier. This swordsman clearly resembled Shadow Twenty, whom Sun Fei had cleaved in two with the ‘Monkey Steals the Peach’ move earlier. His combat skills and weapon were very similar. The fine rapier flickered with cold glints, clashing skillfully with Brook’s greatsword.
“I’ll handle him! You command the soldiers to finish the remnants on the wall!” Sun Fei thrust his great black axe between them. With a twist of his wrist, he accurately knocked the swordsman’s rapier aside, then shouted over his shoulder at the Royal Guard Squadron Leader.
“Warrior, be careful! That bastard’s swordsmanship is treacherous!” Brook, the Squadron Leader, a figure of genuine authority in Shampoo City, felt no hesitation. Stirred by the stranger’s astonishing and heroic feats, this ‘metal monster’ in concealing armor, he instantly obeyed the order.
Brook turned to command his subordinates.
‘Strange… that suit of armor looks oddly familiar… where have I seen it before?’ Brook wondered silently as he moved away.
Meanwhile, Sun Fei blocked the swordsman.
“Are you the one who killed Twenty?” The swordsman’s expression turned grave, energy focused sharply as his internal Battle Qi surged. He’d witnessed Sun Fei’s shocking, axe-based dismemberment of Shadow Twenty. Knowing Twenty was more skilled, he dared not slacken off against Sun Fei for even a second.
‘Can’t match strength directly against this brute!’ The swordsman swiftly assessed. His sword flickered dangerously bright. Relying on nimble footwork and refined swordsmanship, he began to dart unpredictably, clearly aiming to outmaneuver Sun Fei and wait for an opening to unleash a One-Hit Kill.
Sun Fei quickly saw the swordsman’s plan.
The bastard Sun chuckled, face full of disdain.
The level of this swordsman felt akin to the Fallen in the World of Diablo—those little imps wielding blades and torches, inherently cunning, cruel, and cowardly, quick to flee if losing. Their blade techniques were actually quite skilled, mirroring this swordsman before him perfectly.
But dealing with such monsters, after leveling to 5, Sun Fei’s method was simple—a single, direct Axe swing to cleave them.
Trying to use evasion to threaten Sun Fei? Impossible.
Before absolute Might, any trickery is exposed for what it is.
What is a Barbarian?
The answer is one—an expert in close combat!!
Whether it was raw strength or weapon mastery, Barbarians were the pinnacle of close-combat roles in Diablo. If even a Barbarian could be defeated by evasion tactics of this caliber, then Sun Fei would likely have died countless times over in Diablo’s world long ago.
CLANG!
With a seemingly effortless swing of his axe, the swordsman coughed up blood and was sent staggering back.
