Chapter 181: Qin Haisheng
Chapter 181: Qin Haisheng
Inside a premium business suite at the Hilton Hotel, two men sat, surrounded by a circle of black-suited men standing at attention with their hands clasped.
“Fei, I hadn’t seen you for so many years, I thought you were already gone. I never expected you went abroad. Back then, I felt it was a real pity that I only managed to find Da Sang. Otherwise, I would definitely have pulled you in to work with me.”
The old man leaning on a rosewood dragon-headed cane let out a hearty laugh. He looked to be in his fifties or sixties and appeared quite spirited.
“Qin Ye, I had no choice back then. There were too many rivals. If I hadn’t escaped, I might have been assassinated at any moment. Left with no options, I quietly went abroad alone. I never imagined that after all these years, Jingdu would have changed so much.”
Tu Fei gave a slight smile and shook his head with deep feeling.
“Speaking of those days, you and Da Sang were the two I had the highest hopes for. When trouble happened, I immediately sent people to support you. In the end, we only found Da Sang. He said you jumped into the sea. I even sent boats to search thoroughly for you, but we couldn’t find you anywhere.”
Qin Haisheng also seemed quite emotional.
“At that time, I was badly injured. I intended to escape by jumping into the sea, but I passed out soon after I started swimming. Later, when I woke up, I found myself washed up on a beach. I suffered a lot before I finally made it abroad. It’s really a long story.”
Tu Fei sighed, as if he didn’t really want to talk about the past. Then he looked up at Qin Haisheng and said, “Qin Ye, the reason I came to see you this time is to discuss a big deal with you.”
“Oh? It seems Fei has been doing well abroad these years, enough to come talk big business with me. May I ask what kind of deal it is?”
Qin Haisheng laughed loudly and tapped his dragon-headed cane on the floor.
“If this deal goes through, Qin Ye, you alone could monopolize over seventy percent of the supply sources here on the mainland. I think you are well aware of the profits involved.”
Tu Fei smiled mysteriously.
“It sounds quite good.”
Qin Haisheng was an old fox. Although the potential profits were huge, how to actually get them was still an unknown. So he didn’t seem tempted at all. Based on his years of experience, whatever they wanted him to do was definitely no small matter.
“Qin Ye, I wonder if you’ve heard of a man named Solana?”
Seeing that Qin Haisheng showed little reaction, Tu Fei didn’t press on but changed the subject.
“Solana? Are you perhaps referring to the Solana from the Golden Triangle?”
Qin Haisheng raised an eyebrow and rubbed his fingers over the dragon head on his cane.
“Exactly, him. This man was originally in Europe and only came to the Golden Triangle in recent years. Relying on the power he accumulated in Europe, he quickly established himself there and built good relations with some of the major players in the surrounding areas.”
Tu Fei gave a brief introduction. “Currently, almost all the supplies to Huaxia are handled by him alone. The goods from those major players are also entrusted to him to manage.”
“It seems this man is indeed very capable, to earn the trust of those major players. That’s not easy.”
Qin Haisheng nodded, his expression shifting slightly.
“With this man’s help, Qin Ye, controlling the mainland would be as simple as turning your hand over. It’s completely within your power.”
Tu Fei laughed and stated with certainty.
“There’s no such thing as a free lunch. Has something happened to this Solana?”
Qin Haisheng looked at Tu Fei with a teasing glint and asked faintly.
“Indeed. The joint operation between Guangdong and the Hong Kong Police Station a while ago, you must have heard about it, Qin Ye. The batch of goods that was seized belonged to Solana. It was a full two tons, all highly refined product.”
A faint light flickered in Tu Fei’s eyes as he looked at Qin Haisheng.
“Naturally, I heard about this matter. It was in the news for several days. It’s a rare major case cracked in recent years. You aren’t thinking of retrieving that batch of goods, are you?”
Qin Haisheng’s expression was subtle; he neither agreed nor disagreed.
“Qin Ye, you understand the value of that batch. Solana naturally can’t afford to lose such a huge amount of goods. He alone can’t bear the loss. The goods were provided collectively by thirteen families from the Golden Triangle. If they’re lost, his days won’t be easy either.”
Tu Fei smiled with deep meaning.
“I know what you mean. Helping Solana with this could connect us with his side. But that batch is in the hands of the police. How do you expect me to get it out? And it’s not a matter of a few dozen kilos, but a full two tons!”
Qin Haisheng frowned. Although he was tempted, he wasn’t so far gone as to let these potential profits cloud his judgment.
“We will naturally handle getting the goods out. Qin Ye, you don’t need to worry about that. After all, you still need to stay in Huaxia and can’t afford to provoke the authorities like that. But we aren’t afraid. Once this deal is done, we will leave Jingdu immediately.”
Tu Fei said with a smile, his words full of consideration.
“‘We’? It seems Solana enlisted your help, and then you came to me?”
A sharp light flashed in Qin Haisheng’s eyes as he suddenly understood.
“Haha, Qin Ye, your insight is as sharp as ever. Nothing escapes your notice. Indeed, that’s the case. Although we took on Solana’s business, with our strength alone, we naturally can’t run wild in Huaxia.”
Tu Fei laughed heartily. “We still need an accomplice. I thought it over, and in Jingdu, the only person with the capability is you, Qin Ye. Only you can help us get things done without anyone noticing.”
“To think that even after being away for so many years, Fei, you still remember me. Should I be happy about this? Or should I be happy?”
Qin Haisheng also laughed loudly, then his face calmed again. “But you dare to sneak back into Huaxia for such a big deal. You must have some strength to show for it, right? Don’t tell me you brought a few guns and plan to just snatch things from the police.”
“Qin Ye, you’re still as cautious as ever.”
Tu Fei shook his head with a slight smile.
“When you’re in this line of work, of course you have to be careful. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have lived to this day. Isn’t that right, Fei?”
Qin Haisheng said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
“Of course. ‘Caution is the parent of safety.’ That’s the truth passed down by our ancestors!”
Tu Fei nodded as if it were obvious. Then, without any warning, his figure suddenly shot up. A blur of movement flashed through the room. In just two seconds, he was seated back on the sofa. Now, more than ten handguns lay on the coffee table in front of him.
Only then did the black-suited men standing around snap back to reality. Their expressions changed as they reached for the holsters at their waists. But there were no guns in the holsters anymore; Tu Fei had cleaned them out completely.
“Good! Excellent! I never expected that after all these years, Fei, your skills have advanced to such a level! You truly are a man for great deeds. My judgment back then was indeed correct. What a pity! I was just one step too late and missed having you by my side.”
Qin Haisheng’s eyes lit up. Tu Fei’s abilities broadened his horizons. If he had such a fierce subordinate under him, why worry about great things not succeeding? At the very least, within Jingdu, he could rest easy.
“Qin Ye, since I’ve returned this time, I will naturally come back again in the future. If there’s anything Qin Ye needs help with, you can certainly look for me.”
Tu Fei smiled lightly. After displaying his strength, his demeanor seemed to have changed, no longer as casual as before.
“Very good, this is truly excellent!”
Qin Haisheng nodded repeatedly, his eyes fixed on Tu Fei as if trying to see right through him. After a good while, he continued, “How do you want me to help, Fei? Just say it directly.”
“With those words from Qin Ye, this cooperation is already more than halfway to success.”
Tu Fei nodded, then leaned forward slightly. The two began a close exchange, discussing the parts each side needed to handle in the operation. An hour later, Tu Fei drove away from the Hilton Hotel in an Audi R8.
“Mr. Zhang, tell me, should I really do this?”
After Tu Fei had been gone for a while, Qin Haisheng sat alone on the sofa thinking carefully. Then he suddenly spoke up and asked. But besides the men in black, there was no one else around.
“It seems Boss Qin still has some reservations.”
A light laugh suddenly came from one of the guest rooms. Then the door opened, and a middle-aged man with a mustache walked out. He wore a sharply pressed Zhongshan suit, and his hair was parted neatly to the side.
“Of course I have reservations. After all, this is practically directly challenging the authorities. And that batch of goods isn’t in Guangdong anymore; it was transported to Jingdu. This place isn’t like Guangdong. Even for us, we must be extremely cautious.”
Qin Haisheng seemed somewhat hesitant. Although the potential profits upon success were enormous, one still needed to be alive to spend them. If this operation failed, he would immediately be plunged into a situation of utter ruin.
“Boss Qin’s concerns are certainly reasonable. But the riches and honors of this world, how can they be obtained so easily? If you want to grow your enterprise, you naturally need to take some risks.”
Zhang Guanglin sat on the sofa and smiled faintly.
“I naturally understand that principle. I’m just considering whether cooperating with these people is truly worthwhile.”
Qin Haisheng slightly furrowed his brow, concentrating in thought.
“That young man from earlier is extremely strong and exceptionally meticulous. With him involved, the chance of failure is small. Moreover, he has considered that you, Boss Qin, still need to operate within Huaxia, so the tasks you’re responsible for aren’t actually too dangerous.”
Zhang Guanglin smoothed his glossy mustache. “Judging from the discussion just now, this cooperation holds great promise. Boss Qin, you needn’t worry too much. It’s better to focus on how to best coordinate with their actions.”
“Mr. Zhang makes a lot of sense. I’m getting older, Qin, and have become a bit timid, lacking the boldness I had in my youth.”
Qin Haisheng smiled self-deprecatingly and tapped his dragon-headed cane. A black-suited man immediately walked up behind him, bending down to listen to his instructions.
“You heard what Fei and I discussed earlier. Go and make the arrangements. Strive to get everything prepared in the shortest time possible.”
A sharp light flashed in Qin Haisheng’s eyes as he gave the calm instruction.
“Yes, Qin Ye. I’ll go handle it right away.”
With that, the man in black promptly left the room.
