Chapter 20: Smiling Proud Half-Step Ecstasy

Wang Junli, now harboring evil thoughts, no longer intended to hold back.

If he only had the Wang Family to rely on, he wouldn’t dare to completely break with the Lin Family. But behind the Wang Family stood a much more powerful figure, to whom the family had to give thirty percent of their annual earnings.

As long as this person was willing to step forward, dealing with the Lin Family would be a trivial matter.

At their boss’s command, the remaining henchmen hesitated no longer. A fierce gleam flashed in their eyes as they each pulled out concealed controlled blades and charged together toward Lin Mu.

But Lin Mu had come here precisely to find out who was causing trouble for him. Now that he had identified the mastermind, he naturally intended to resolve the matter.

He shifted his body forward, his right hand suddenly striking like a blade against the neck of the foremost attacker. The sudden, immense force knocked the man out without so much as a sound.

Having entered the Agility Realm, Lin Mu’s heightened senses were fully activated. Dealing with these slightly stronger henchmen was as easy as taking candy from a baby.

In his eyes, their movements were as slow as a turtle’s.

It didn’t take long for the remaining henchmen to be knocked out or paralyzed, and soon they lay scattered across the floor.

Seeing his dozen or so followers taken down in the blink of an eye, Wang Junli stumbled backward in fright and collapsed onto the sofa.

“Lin Mu, don’t do anything reckless! Last time, my son was in the wrong. I apologize on his behalf, and you’ve already punished him. Why don’t we just let this matter rest?”

Looking at the trembling Wang Junli, Lin Mu smiled faintly, though in the current situation, it didn’t seem very comforting.

“Let it rest? That might be possible, but recently I’ve been a bit short on cash. How about you foot the bill, Boss Wang?”

Hearing that Lin Mu wanted money, Wang Junli nodded eagerly. “Okay, okay! I have about twenty million in cash on my card. I’ll transfer it to you right away.”

“It’s not a traceable account, is it?” Lin Mu grinned, revealing a row of white teeth.

“No, no, definitely not!” Wang Junli shook his head repeatedly, terrified that Lin Mu might lose patience and he would end up like his henchmen. “This is an offshore anonymous account. Its security is absolutely guaranteed.”

“Good,” Lin Mu said, pulling out a card and tossing it over. “Transfer the money to this card.”

Wang Junli, holding the bank card, pointed to the computer on the large desk. “Alright, I’ll make the transfer now, but I’ll need to use that computer over there.”

With Lin Mu’s approval, Wang Junli shakily moved behind the desk and began typing furiously on the computer. A few minutes later, he turned the screen toward Lin Mu.

“The money has been transferred. Check if the amount is correct.”

Lin Mu stepped forward and shifted his gaze to the screen. In that instant, Wang Junli suddenly pulled out a handgun from under the desk and aimed it at Lin Mu.

A mocking smile curled at the corner of Lin Mu’s mouth. He kicked the desk with his right foot, and the powerful force sent both the desk and Wang Junli flying. The handgun slipped from Wang Junli’s grasp and skidded away.

“Boss Wang, if I wanted to kill you, no matter where you ran, you wouldn’t escape death.”

Looking down at Wang Junli, who was clutching his stomach on the floor, Lin Mu wore a derisive expression. “Don’t do anything so unwise again. I’m not exactly a patient person.”

“No! No! Brother Lin, I was wrong!” Wang Junli croaked. “From now on, I’ll follow your orders without hesitation!”

“Really?” Lin Mu kicked the fallen desk aside, crouched down slowly in front of Wang Junli, and said, “If Boss Wang truly means that, it would be perfect!”

Wang Junli forced a strained smile and was about to say more when Lin Mu suddenly struck. His right hand clamped onto Wang Junli’s jaw while his left hand swiftly brushed past his mouth.

Lin Mu then pushed Wang Junli’s chin, forcing him to swallow involuntarily.

“What did you give me?!” Wang Junli screamed in terror.

“You must have heard of this drug’s famous name—it’s called Smiling Proud Half-Step Ecstasy. But without the antidote I provide regularly, your fate will be worse than death!”

Lin Mu chuckled softly, his mind briefly recalling a classic movie he had seen a few days earlier. To Wang Junli, however, that smile seemed like the embodiment of a devil.

“Remember, I’ll give you the antidote every three months. Don’t even think about doing anything stupid, or you’ll face the consequences.”

Ignoring Wang Junli’s horrified and furious expression, Lin Mu walked into the bathroom, tidied himself up a bit, and then left the Wang Family Villa.

Originally, Lin Mu would have preferred to eliminate Wang Junli and remove the threat completely. However, the laws in this world were very strict when it came to murder.

At his current level of strength, he wasn’t powerful enough to act recklessly. So, he had to settle for the next best option: using the threat of poison to intimidate Wang Junli and keep him under control temporarily.

Not long after returning to his dorm, before Lin Mu could even settle in, his mobile phone rang. The caller ID showed it was Tang Beibei.

As soon as he answered, before he could speak, Tang Beibei launched into a rapid-fire explanation.

“Lin Mu, come to the base quickly! We’ve discovered a problem, and we might need to carry out some missions!”
