Chapter 114: A Joint Visit

When Lin Qi left the family’s Secret Vault, the sky was already getting light. Blackbeard had gone somewhere with a flick of his hand. Lin Qi, feeling the excitement of a child who had just gotten a new toy, went cheerfully to look for Enzo.

The cold wind still blew, but the heavy snow had stopped. The gray sky seemed a bit dark, and even the howling wind carried a bleak, black chill. The wind cut across the land like a blade, making a whooshing sound as it sliced through the air. Lin Qi exhaled forcefully several times; the white puffs of warm breath he produced vanished instantly in the chilly wind.

Enzo was wearing only his shorts, carrying a large rock as he jogged steadily around the main house. Steam rose from his body, and he was drenched in sweat, showing that he had been running for quite some time. This was a habit Enzo had developed at the Army Academy—waking up early every morning to exercise. Even during the days on the Sea Windmill, he would get up at dawn and sprint back and forth on the deck hundreds of times.

Breathing heavily, Enzo jogged past Lin Qi. He grinned at Lin Qi, showing his teeth, and then continued on his way. Enzo was diligent, always making time for training and cultivation. Lin Qi, however, had never taken such rigorous training seriously.

That was the issue. Even though Lin Qi never trained seriously, his progress in Combat Qi always surpassed Enzo’s, which made Enzo feel quite unbalanced. But Lin Qi’s family background was something to consider. Since Enzo had learned just how powerful Lin Qi’s family was, that little bit of jealousy had long since faded—this was a privilege the boss deserved to enjoy.

“Hey, Enzo!” Lin Qi reached into his boot, fumbled around for a moment, and slowly pulled out a four-foot-long Rapier. This bizarre sight made Enzo pause in shock. His left foot tangled with his right, and he nearly fell flat on his face. Staggering forward a few steps, he finally regained his balance. He tossed the large rock onto a nearby pile of snow and asked in astonishment, “How did you do that?”

“Just a small trick, nothing worth mentioning!” Lin Qi proudly twirled the Rapier in a flourish and then tossed it to Enzo. “Try it out. It’s a good item I got from my father—a Magical Weapon. See how it feels.”

A Magical Weapon? Enzo’s lips twitched, and he almost drooled. Was it really a Magical Weapon? He instinctively thought of Aunt Lili’s terrifying Wolf Fang mace. He caught the Rapier Lin Qi threw to him and began examining it with wild joy.

The blade was slender and long, just the right proportions for a high-quality Rapier. The metal used was some special alloy, completely different from ordinary steel. Squinting and looking closely along the edge, Enzo could see layers of uniform patterns resembling Dragon Scales. Against the white steel color of the blade, these Dragon Scale patterns had a faint blue-green tint.

Among those patterns, six Runes, arranged in pairs, flickered faintly. Unless one looked closely at the blade, these Runes were almost invisible.

Enzo gave the Rapier a gentle swing. The length and weight were perfect. What surprised Enzo the most was that when he swung the Rapier, it made no sound at all cutting through the air. It was like a fish swimming through water; the air offered no resistance to the blade.

“Very good, very good!” Enzo grinned so widely his eyes became slits. He looked left and right, searching for something to use as a target to test the Rapier.

Lin Qi puffed out his chest and suddenly shouted, “Aunt Lili, is there a ready calf in the kitchen? Please toss one out for us to test the sword!”

With a loud whoosh, the kitchen door in the distance swung open heavily. Aunt Lili walked out cheerfully, holding a bull that weighed over a thousand pounds. From about thirty meters away, she lifted the young bull with both arms and hurled it straight at Enzo.

Enzo was startled, but he quickly reacted, dashing forward and thrusting the Rapier rapidly with his right hand. His Combat Qi naturally flowed into the Rapier. The slender blade suddenly glowed with a faint yellow aura, and around that, a light blue wind energy flickered faintly.

In that instant, Enzo thrust eighteen times in quick succession. Each thrust pierced deep into the bull’s body—through the skull, spine, ribs, and abdomen. Even the hardest part, the skull, was easily penetrated by the Rapier. What delighted Enzo even more was that he felt absolutely no resistance when piercing the bull’s body.

Undoubtedly, if he used this Rapier to kill a person, he wouldn’t feel any resistance either.

Enzo laughed heartily and sidestepped, avoiding the bull that was now spurting blood from all over. He couldn’t put down the magical Rapier, admiring it lovingly. In that brief moment, he had thrust eighteen times—twice his usual fastest speed. Clearly, the wind-enhancing spell on the Rapier had given him a tremendous boost. Being able to thrust nine more times in the same amount of time meant his combat ability had increased by more than just double—maybe even two or three times.

Aunt Lili clapped her hands hard and praised, “Young man, you handle that sword quite well! Hahaha, well, your Combat Qi is a bit weak though!”

Shaking her head, Aunt Lili warmly hugged Lin Qi, picked up the young bull with one hand, and swaggered back into the kitchen. Enzo was left speechless by Aunt Lili’s comment. Combat Qi a bit weak? For his age, being an Earth Knight was considered weak?

Lin Qi grinned and moved closer to Enzo, pulling a small medicine bottle from his boot. Inside were two Leopard Meridian Pills.

Lin Qi lowered his voice and explained the amazing effects of the Leopard Meridian Pills to Enzo. Enzo’s eyes immediately lit up brightly. He snatched the bottle and quickly tucked it into his pocket. Pills that could expand and stabilize Meridians—such medicine was legendary, priceless even in the auctions of the Imperial Capital. The value of these two pills was no less than that of two large estates—maybe even greater.

Enzo looked at Lin Qi with gratitude and was about to say something heartfelt when a commotion was suddenly heard from outside the main gate.

Soon, Butcher Knife slipped in like a ghost. He glanced at Lin Qi and Enzo and said gravely, “Go change your clothes and get ready. Three great personages, who hold equal status with the master in the Night Alliance, have arrived together.”

Enzo looked at Lin Qi blankly. What was the Night Alliance?

Lin Qi’s face changed slightly. Of course, he knew what the Night Alliance was. The so-called Night Alliance was a coalition of all the dark forces along the northern coast of the Continent. Lin Qi’s father, Blackbeard, was one of the thirteen Black Attendants of the Night Alliance. Those who were his equals were naturally powerful figures like Blackbeard, each dominating their own territory.

The joint visit of three such figures required the Black Tiger Family to be extremely vigilant.
