Chapter 113: A Few Pieces of Equipment
Chapter 113: A Few Pieces of Equipment
“Those things outside, not bad, really not bad!” Blackbeard led Lin Qi slowly through the narrow passageway, laughing proudly. “But those things are useless. Really, they’re all troublesome goods inside. Taking them out would only bring trouble upon yourself.”
Humming an aria from some opera triumphantly, Blackbeard walked with an exaggerated stride and laughed. “The truly useful things are all inside these three Secret Vaults. Lin Qi, unlike that medicine vault you saw last time, the family’s most precious treasures are all kept here.”
Lin Qi narrowed his eyes, a flash of golden greed in his pupils, and followed close behind Blackbeard into a small Secret Vault about twenty meters across. Inside, more than ten rows of metal shelves were neatly arranged, holding some antique-looking crystal medicine bottles and some strange containers.
“Lin Qi, your old man just helped you unblock your Meridians, but they aren’t stable yet. That bowl of medicinal soup only initially helped stabilize your current strength. So, you must take this bottle of ‘Golden-Spotted Saber-Tooth Meridian Pills’ with you. There are seven pills in total. You only need to take one pill a day for three days. It will help your Meridians completely solidify and stabilize, and can make your Meridians several times stronger than an ordinary Knight’s.”
Blackbeard tossed a golden crystal medicine bottle the size of a fist to Lin Qi. Lin Qi’s eyes gleamed as he stuffed the bottle into his pocket. The importance of Meridians to a Warrior was undeniable. The sturdier and more unobstructed the Meridians, the stronger the Combat Qi impact they could withstand. Whether for training or fighting enemies, powerful Meridians played a huge role.
Moreover, Lin Qi only needed to take three pills to stabilize his Meridians, but there were seven here. That meant Lin Qi had four extra Golden-Spotted Saber-Tooth Meridian Pills, enough to give Enzo, Vic, and Yulian some benefits too.
This Secret Vault stored extremely precious medicinal materials, rare drugs that the Black Tiger Family had obtained over the years through scheming, plundering, and robbing. Nobles from the various great Empires and Kingdoms on the Continent always liked to spend huge sums to purchase rare medicines from faraway places to nurture the young elites of their families. But they also liked to transport these medicines by sea. Naturally, many rare medicines ended up in the hands of the Black Tiger Family.
Blackbeard picked two bottles of strange medicines that could enhance physical constitution for Lin Qi, and also gave him several bottles of pills and potions that could speed up Combat Qi cultivation. Finally, he found a large jar of black ointment for Lin Qi. He solemnly warned Lin Qi that this was an extremely rare healing medicine. Whether it was broken bones and tendons or cut muscles, applying this ointment would allow recovery in the shortest time.
Lin Qi carefully packed up these priceless medicines, using a large piece of cloth to wrap them into a bundle that he slung over his shoulder.
Seeing Lin Qi looking like a petty thief in the night, Blackbeard couldn’t help but grimace. He shook his head and led Lin Qi into the second small Secret Vault. Here, Blackbeard didn’t give Lin Qi anything else. He just carefully selected an anklet and had Lin Qi wear it on his ankle.
It was a green anklet, only as thick as a bean sprout, and extremely delicate. It was unclear what metal the anklet was made of; it was light as a feather, even lighter. Lin Qi frowned as he put the anklet on his left ankle, then couldn’t help but grimace and look at Blackbeard.
“I’m a grown man!” Lin Qi said angrily to Blackbeard. What man wears an anklet?
“You’re not a grown man, I’m the real grown man!” Blackbeard glanced at Lin Qi disdainfully and mocked, “A greenhorn who hasn’t even touched a woman dares to call himself a man? Drip a drop of blood onto it!”
Lin Qi was so deflated by Blackbeard he couldn’t lift his head. With a miserable expression, he bit his finger and dripped a drop of blood onto the anklet. The delicate, thin anklet flashed with a faint green light and suddenly sank into Lin Qi’s ankle. Under his skin, only an extremely fine, almost invisible green trace remained. Lin Qi faintly felt that something on his ankle seemed connected to his spirit.
“This is a Spatial Artifact. It can hold as much stuff as a Four-Wheel Carriage.” Blackbeard raised his eyebrows and laughed. “What’s even better is, it’s an anklet. No one would think such a precious Spatial Artifact is worn on someone’s ankle. Keeping valuable things inside is very safe!”
Lin Qi was astonished. He carefully moved a few medicine bottles close to his foot. Sure enough, with a flash of light, the medicine bottles disappeared without a trace. Lin Qi could vaguely feel that something more had appeared inside his left ankle.
“Really good!” Lin Qi laughed. “No one would take off my boots to check what’s on my foot.”
Blackbeard frowned and said, “Too bad you don’t have foot odor, otherwise it would be even safer! Hahaha!”
After joking and teasing Lin Qi a few more times, Blackbeard grabbed Lin Qi, who was sneaking glances at the many magic tools in this Secret Vault, and forcibly dragged him out. “Don’t even think about eyeing these things inside. This is the family’s strategic reserve. Unless the family faces a life-or-death crisis, we are not allowed to easily use the magic tools here.”
After sternly warning Lin Qi for a while, Blackbeard pulled him along to the final Secret Vault.
Here, large quantities of weapons, armor, and other items forged by master-level blacksmiths and Mages were piled up. Lin Qi’s eyes gleamed as he scanned these coldly gleaming weapons. He casually picked up a heavy, massive battle axe. The axe had an ancient style, its surface like a full moon, with a sharp bull-horn protrusion on the head. It looked cold, solemn, and particularly fierce. Faint Runes flickered on the battle axe; it was a Magical Weapon!
Blackbeard grinned. “A man should use such a big thing! Well, pick a few more. For your brothers too, bring them something.”
Lin Qi unceremoniously selected a Rapier imbued with Tearing and Swift Wind spells. This was for Enzo.
A dagger imbued with Tearing and Deadly Poison, and a pair of boots made from wind-fox leather that could increase running speed by half and allow silent landing. These were for Vic.
An ornate Foil imbued with Dazzling Light and Confusion spells. This was for that playboy Yulian.
Besides the big axe, Lin Qi also picked a light, thin, close-fitting soft armor and wore it. This soft armor was made from the leather of a high-level magical beast, the Venomous Long Lizard. It was as thin as a butterfly’s wing, extremely light, but had excellent physical and Magic defense.
After hiding all the equipment inside the anklet, Lin Qi excitedly clapped his hands.
“Enough, at least for now, it’s enough.”
