Chapter 117: Distant

The prolonged concentrated fire from the heavy machine gun still failed to take down the Tyrannosaurus Rex. It only slowed its advance due to the powerful suppressive barrage of the dense firepower. Nevertheless, it now stubbornly reached within less than ten meters of the helipad. At its previous speed, it would charge into the group in just a few seconds!

The others had no extra firepower to reinforce the heavy machine gun’s attack on the Tyrannosaurus Rex. If the zombies and crawlers got close, the consequences would be equally disastrous. Moreover, one or two flying insects occasionally attempted to ambush the people on the helipad from the sky.

After withstanding the immense pressure of the heavy machine gun barrage and taking another step, the Tyrannosaurus Rex was now less than five meters away from the group. Its massive head and ferocious mouth had already reached the effective attack range against the players.

Heaven knew if such a huge mouth could swallow everyone at once!

Under Lü Yang’s command, the heavy machine gun aimed at the Tyrannosaurus Rex’s head. The barrage pressure temporarily prevented it from lowering its head, but the Tyrannosaurus Rex seized this chance and lifted its giant leg again…

A loud roar echoed from the distance, making everyone’s hearts sink completely… A second Tyrannosaurus Rex appeared at the edge of the rooftop! After emitting a screech, the second Tyrannosaurus Rex rushed in large strides toward the helipad.

Lü Yang threw two hand grenades consecutively. One exploded at the feet of the Tyrannosaurus Rex near the helipad, while the other was thrown directly into its mouth.

Nine minutes and forty-five seconds, the helicopter appeared not far above the group, slowing down and preparing to land.

The second Tyrannosaurus Rex had already rushed to the side of the first one… One more step forward, and everyone would be devoured by its monstrous maw.

Lü Yang threw three more of his last four hand grenades. The consecutive explosions slightly hindered the steps of the two Tyrannosaurus Rexes. Under the continuous firepower attacks, the first Tyrannosaurus Rex finally ran out of health and collapsed heavily onto the rooftop floor.

But… the other Tyrannosaurus Rex suddenly leaped forward and bit toward the heavy machine gun and the burly man operating it.

The heavy machine gun was entirely bitten off the helipad by the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The burly man and two players guarding him were caught off guard and bitten into the Tyrannosaurus Rex’s gigantic mouth along with it. Only their legs remained outside the Tyrannosaurus Rex’s jaws. After successfully striking, the Tyrannosaurus Rex raised its massive head, shook it, and quickly swallowed the three players whole.

The remaining players witnessed this scene, their faces turning pale. They only relied on instinct to spray submachine gun bullets at the zombies and crawlers nearby.

Nine minutes and fifty seconds…

The helipad was in chaos. The Tyrannosaurus Rex’s recent charge and bite disrupted the players’ defensive formation. Countless zombies and crawlers took this opportunity to surge forward. Although Lü Yang repeatedly shouted for everyone not to panic, under the threat of the Tyrannosaurus Rex’s huge mouth, most people were terrified to the extreme, unable to maintain their previous rationality or defensive formation. They began to act individually, firing their guns randomly around them.

The Tyrannosaurus Rex leaned down again, and two more players fell into its mouth.

Once the defensive formation broke, the entire helipad was immediately overrun by zombies and crawlers. This directly resulted in the helicopter being unable to land on the helipad at all!

Lü Yang wielded a light machine gun and carried two submachine guns on his back. After kicking down two zombies, he emptied the remaining bullets of the light machine gun into a crawler attempting to attack him. Then he discarded the light machine gun, grabbed a submachine gun from his back, and shot down a group of zombies pouncing on him from the other side.

Ten minutes exactly.

The helicopter still hovered high above, completely unable to land. After swallowing the two players, the Tyrannosaurus Rex’s attention was drawn to the helicopter in the sky. It stopped attacking the players on the helipad and instead furiously screeched at the helicopter above.

More than ten ropes scattered down from the helicopter. One happened to swing near Lü Yang, who quickly grabbed it. He threw his last hand grenade toward the wide-open mouth of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, then discarded the empty submachine gun and swiftly climbed up the rope.

The hand grenade did not land in the Tyrannosaurus Rex’s mouth but exploded at its feet, causing it to stagger. Seizing this chance, the helicopter moved closer to the group of players, and the dangling ropes swung toward the other players on the helipad.

About ten people, like Lü Yang, grabbed one of the helicopter’s dangling ropes and struggled to climb up. The Tyrannosaurus Rex, nearly tripped by Lü Yang’s hand grenade, was very angry. After steadying itself, it roared again, leaped high into the air, and attacked the helicopter.

The helicopter suddenly swerved to the side, causing the people climbing the ropes to crash toward the helipad floor. One person hit the ground headfirst and was knocked unconscious, then his body was devoured by the swarming zombies and crawlers. Two others, swinging too low, were forcibly dragged off the ropes by a group of zombies back to the ground. Amid screams, they too were quickly devoured by the zombies and crawlers.

Fortunately, Lü Yang had climbed higher. When the helicopter dodged the Tyrannosaurus Rex, he only swung over the heads of the zombies and crawlers, so none could touch him.

At another corner of the helipad, three people—two men and one woman—stood back-to-back, continuously firing at the surrounding zombies and crawlers, barely holding onto a small area of survival. Clearly, they had been separated from the others in the chaos after the Tyrannosaurus Rex closed in, so they had no chance to reach the ropes dangling from the helicopter.

Under the assault of zombies and crawlers, the two men fell one after another, their bodies dragged off the helipad and became food for a group of zombies below. The remaining woman was quickly surrounded by several zombies that hadn’t gotten any food. The submachine gun in her hands had fired its last bullet.

Dangling in the air, Lü Yang freed one hand to grab the last submachine gun from his back. A burst of bullets shot down the three zombies closest to the woman, temporarily relieving her predicament.

“Save me!”

As the helicopter pulled several players swinging over the woman’s head, she reached out toward Lü Yang and the others. Lü Yang dropped the submachine gun, slid down the rope a little, and extended a hand toward her. But the helicopter swung too fast; Lü Yang’s fingers only brushed against hers, unable to grab her hand before the helicopter swung far away.

More zombies and crawlers quickly pounced. The woman’s dying screams instantly grew distant.

The helicopter moved farther and farther from the ground… The second round of the game officially ended.

Besides Lü Yang, five men and one woman—seven people in total—grabbed the helicopter’s ropes at the last moment, narrowly surviving.

The Tyrannosaurus Rex stood on the rooftop helipad, opened its huge mouth, and let out an earth-shaking roar at the departing helicopter.
