Volume 2 Chapter 30: Qin Lun’s Method
Volume 2 Chapter 30: Qin Lun’s Method
Even though Bonnie, with Odo’s help, hurt the Witch Maiar badly and even broke one of her Heart Cores, the Demon Hunter not only did not win, but the situation became more and more difficult.
The reason was that this Witch Maiar unexpectedly had two Heart Cores, and now she moved far away from the Demon Hunter swordsman Bonnie Albert.
While Odo was badly hurt and near death, and Bonnie was trying hard to dodge the witch’s magic attacks, the other fights in the clearing also became very intense and were about to end.
“Owooo!” With the werewolf’s howl, the female troll slowly got over her initial confusion. In the werewolf’s fast attacks, she finally got a chance. Even though her belly was torn open by the werewolf’s claws and her guts spilled out, she used her big hands to grab one of the werewolf’s back legs.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!” The troll, crazy from pain, lifted the werewolf like a broken sack and smashed it hard into the ground. The continuous hitting broke many bones in the werewolf. Finally, it was thrown against a big tree trunk and lay under the tree, broken and motionless.
In another battle, Bla’s fight with the Half-Being Mantis was also ending. Half-Being Mantis has a broken human soul. Even without the witch’s command, it could fight alone, but it could not tell what was important in the fight and kept getting stuck fighting the young Demon Hunter.
The Half-Being Mantis was very big, and its two blade-scythes could cut through metal. It was the creature with the strongest attack power among everyone in the clearing. However, the Half-Being Mantis was not smart and was stubborn and violent. The young Demon Hunter only needed to tease it a little, and it would get very angry, screaming loudly. It was even unwilling to leave the boy and go help the Witch Maiar.
Bla relied on his small size and quick steps, always moving in circles around the Half-Being Mantis. His fight should have been the easiest, but when the Harpy joined the fight, the boy was in great danger. Many times, he almost died under the Mantis’s blades.
The Harpy’s original target was Odo, but as soon as the witch showed up, she immediately ordered it to help the Half-Being Mantis.
Odo and Bonnie wanted to end the fight quickly, and the witch wanted the same.
Here at the Witch’s Cottage, the evil side was stronger. But the Magical Creatures she sent to attack the main group of Demon Hunters, now without her command, were being killed by the Demon Hunters. The witch wanted to finish the fight here quickly, regain command of those Magical Creatures, and avoid unnecessary losses.
She had two Heart Cores and was confident that Odo and Bonnie could not kill her quickly. So, she sent the Harpy to help the Half-Being Mantis, to get rid of the weakest link among the three Demon Hunters as soon as possible.
Bla was covered in wounds from the Harpy’s attacks. His torn clothes were soaked with blood, and his whole body looked like a bloody mess. Although the Harpy could not give the boy a deadly hit, its sharp claws still made the young Demon Hunter lose a lot of blood.
The boy felt dizzy and could only dodge one attack from either the Half-Being Mantis or the Harpy. If not for his strong will keeping him going, Bla would have preferred to die directly under the Mantis’s blade. Every time the Harpy swooped down, it left a bloody cut on him, and its sharp claws would also take away a piece of flesh, almost like a terrible torture.
He had to use that method! After Qin Lun saw the situation on the battlefield, he closed his eyes and stood up from the grass.
“…3, 2, 1! Activate!” Qin Lun suddenly opened his eyes, his face looked blank, and he rushed towards the witch in the center of the clearing.
“Young master!” Only when a familiar figure appeared in front of him did Frank realize that his master had rushed into the battlefield at some point. He was shocked and immediately got up from the ground and ran after his master.
So these two little bugs hiding and watching finally couldn’t hold back and came out? A look of disdain appeared on the witch’s face. This was her territory; how could she not know that two people were hiding nearby? However, she knew that these two people were probably the burdens of this Demon Hunter team; otherwise, they would have joined the fight earlier.
“Kee-arr!” The witch let out a short, sharp cry. The Harpy that was chasing Bla trembled slightly, flapped its wings, drew a beautiful arc in the air, turned around, and swooped down towards Qin Lun.
“Successfully predicted enemy action pattern. Activating Combat Model. Beginning detailed calculations…”
“Wind speed Level 3. Own running speed 9.2 m/s. Visual distance to aerial attacker 13-14 m…”
“Aerial attacker needs 0.2 seconds to turn around. Gliding speed 22 m/s – 26 m/s… Based on previous observations, the aerial attacker’s final 2-meter acceleration swoop is 240 m/s, reaching subsonic speed…”
“Subtracting own reaction time 0.23 seconds, time to turn and observe 0.2 seconds, hammer impact time 0.25 seconds… Firing solution evaluation: Turn around after 0.2 seconds, fire when the aerial attacker is 3 meters away for optimal effect!”
“Target at 12 o’clock direction, distance 3 meters, error correction 0.22 meters, elevation angle 32 degrees, now…”
Qin Lun suddenly turned around, his face blank as he looked at the Harpy in front of him. His raised hand now held a short-barreled flintlock revolver. It was the “Blood Wheel” that Lady Nova had once given him.
Facing the dark gun muzzle and the marble-like cold, emotionless human face, the Harpy’s beautiful head felt the threat of death for the first time. It desperately flapped its wings, trying to fly up again. Unfortunately, its speed was too fast, its momentum too great; at this distance, it could no longer escape.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!…” White smoke mixed with bright flames. Silver steel pellets flew towards the Harpy like a rain of flowers.
“Recoil exceeds estimation. Adjusting firing angle…”
“Forcibly adjusted firing angle. Contusion in forearm muscle groups. Capillaries in index finger joint ruptured…”
“Target’s chest area hit extensively. Deviation from intended position 0.2 cm. Continuing to fire…”
“Target’s predicted Heart Core area hit. Distance from self 0.2 meters. Firearm ammunition exhausted. Switching body to evasion mode…”
Qin Lun opened his right hand, and the “Blood Wheel” fell from his palm. His body stiffly fell backwards, facing the sky.
The Harpy’s sharp claws swept past the tip of the young man’s nose. Just as his body was about to hit the ground, Qin Lun flipped his left hand, pressed it on the grass, and used the momentum to flip over, standing up straight as neatly as a breakdancer.
“Thud!” After passing the young man, the Harpy plunged headfirst into the soil of the clearing, remaining stiffly in its attacking pose, motionless.
“Stage One Combat Model successful. Exiting Combat Model. Body condition undamaged. Entering Stage Two Prediction Mode…”
After Qin Lun stood up, his face was still blank. Without even looking at the Harpy lying behind him, he quickly ran towards the other troll.
“This is impossible?!” The Witch Maiar was both shocked and angry.
It was not strange that the Demon Hunters knew where the Harpy’s Heart Core was. However, the Harpy was agile and nimble, its flying posture very flexible. Aiming for its Heart Core in battle was something even the best sharpshooter could not do. Even using a scattergun like the “Blood Wheel,” one only had a slight chance if firing accurately within two or three meters.
Moreover, in the final stage of the Harpy’s approach to an enemy, its swooping speed reached subsonic levels. Trying to kill the Harpy with a gun at such a distance was even less likely than a blind cat finding a dead mouse.
The death of the Harpy not only shocked the Witch Maiar but also made Bonnie pause for a moment. He knew Qin Lun’s physical abilities well; he definitely did not have the nerve reaction speed to shoot the Harpy. He could only attribute it to luck.
However, as soon as Bonnie regained his senses, he cursed silently. He actually failed to close the distance between them while the witch was distracted. By the time he refocused, the witch had also regained her concentration, and the two fell back into their chase.
However, what neither of them noticed was that Qin Lun not only had a blank expression but his pupils also lacked focus, scattered, just like a mindless Zombie.
“Roar!” The troll with its belly torn open and guts spilled roared loudly, spread its arms, and swung its big hands like it was swatting a fly towards Qin Lun. Originally, after throwing the werewolf, it was supposed to go to the witch’s side as a meat shield. As long as the troll was in front of the witch, this fight would basically be decided.
However, before it could even stuff all the guts hanging outside its belly back in, Qin Lun had already run up to it. Trolls are not actually Magical Creatures; they are evil beings with complete souls. They signed a Servant Contract with the witch and were hired by the witches in the Maiar Forest.
“Successfully predicted enemy action pattern. Activating Stage Two Combat Model. Beginning detailed calculations…”
“Summon Black Bear BEN. Simple command: Hold the troll attacker’s shoulders from behind to prevent it from moving.”
“Troll attacker arm length 1.2 meters. Distance to own head 5.2 meters. Swinging arm speed 12 m/s…”
“Distance from own hand to abdominal wound 5.2 meters. Own arm swinging speed 15 m/s…”
“Own reaction time 0.23 seconds, arm swing time 0.24 seconds… Attack solution evaluation: Turn head after 0.21 seconds, dodge sideways after 0.25 seconds, for optimal attack effect!”
“Target successfully captured. Unknown error. Target slipped from grasp. Evaluated error: Target was too greasy…”
“Activating backup combat model. Adjusting evasion time. Beginning secondary attack…”
“Secondary attack successful. Target capture successful. Unable to escape troll’s attack. Evasion failed…”
“Still within backup combat model. Using shoulder to receive troll’s attack…”
“Shoulder bone fractured. Arm mobility decreased by 60%…”
“Stage Two Combat Model successful. Physical condition unable to enter Stage Three Prediction Mode. Exiting self-hypnosis state…”
“Pfft!” Qin Lun couldn’t help but open his mouth. While his body was still flying through the air, a stream of blood shot out, staining his chest bright red.
The troll’s strength was immense. It not only broke Qin Lun’s shoulder bone but also injured his internal organs.
At this moment, however, Qin Lun’s eyes regained focus instead. They were clear and bright, completely different from the lifeless Zombie-like appearance from before, as if he had become a different person.
Success! Qin Lun looked at the large, ugly piece of intestine in his hand, clenched his fist, and a cold smile appeared on his face.
