Chapter 223: In the Pink (Part 1)
Chapter 223: In the Pink (Part 1)
“Good grief… what kind of mission is this?”
Qianruo ran over to Siyuan, who was using the toilet, holding the mission instructions she just received. She stared at Siyuan with wide, innocent eyes as he looked dazed, making a fuss over nothing.
“What?”
“See for yourself.”
Siyuan took the instructions and looked. He found it clearly stated in black and white—Starting today, Qi Siyuan was being transferred to Europe to assist the “Hunter” organization for a period of thirty days.
“Send me to Europe?”
“Hurry up and ask for details. I don’t want to go back to Europe.” Qianruo was unhappy. “My career here is just starting. If you go, I won’t go with you.”
Siyuan’s mind was also a mess. He was already overwhelmed with work, and now they suddenly transferred him to Europe out of the blue. What was going on?
“Get me the phone.”
“Okay.”
Siyuan immediately dialed the Special Cases Division’s standing executive director—Little Dragon Maiden Yu Xue. Right away, he questioned her unhappily about the purpose of this arrangement.
But… Little Dragon Maiden was clearly prepared in advance, so her answers were smooth and flawless. “It’s like this—a situation similar to ours has appeared in Europe. A large number of Transcenders have arrived there at the same time. Go there to investigate and assist them in handling this matter. This is the mess you caused. You wouldn’t just leave it alone, would you?”
“But I still have cases in hand here.”
“Your cases will be taken over by me. Ning Qingyuan and Qianruo will temporarily join my team and work with me. What else are you worried about?”
With Little Dragon Maiden in the same group as them, it was even more stable than Siyuan being with them. Safety was definitely not a problem, so… were there any other issues? Siyuan couldn’t think of any at the moment.
“This is the organization’s arrangement. You must follow orders.”
“Alright…” Siyuan sighed. “When do I leave?”
“Today at noon. The procedures are already done. By the way, Ning Qingying happens to be there for Fashion Week. We’ve contacted her; she will pick you up. Dante will get in touch with you later. That’s it—you can start packing now.”
After hanging up, Little Dragon Maiden turned her head to look at Chen Ming next to her. “Satisfied? Even though nothing was wrong, I specially called Europe to create some business.”
“Didn’t you say it should be festive and relaxed? How can it be relaxed with those guys?”
Little Dragon Maiden smiled softly at Chen Ming. “These Transcenders are a huge asset to any country. The French aren’t stupid; they won’t let Siyuan casually join their core daily operations. At most, they’ll let him observe a bit, and that’s about it. The rest will just be sightseeing and leisure.”
That actually made some sense. Chen Ming had once gone to Europe for a joint event with the French. When he went, it wasn’t about carrying out tasks—it was clearly about indulging in pleasure. During the day, he wandered around with nothing to do; at night, there were organized shows. If he was hungry, food was brought; if bored, someone took him out shopping. Out of all his business trips, that was probably the only one where he came back ten pounds heavier.
“Okay. Who do you plan to send with him?”
“No one. He brings his own.”
“He brings his own?”
Of course, he brought his own. Siyuan had plenty of people around him, and even more who were idle. Although Ghost Mother Qianruo and others had things to do, Mengling, Little Mountain Deity, and that Pope, who had recently become obsessed with the Little Mountain Deity, were on summer vacation, bored out of their minds every day. So, Little Dragon Maiden simply gave Siyuan four plane tickets to let him take these carefree guys around. This would both cause him some trouble to keep him from overthinking and prevent boredom during the trip. After all, with a bunch of kids… it would be strange if they didn’t stir up some trouble.
Thus, when Siyuan boarded the plane, he suddenly became the camp leader of a children’s summer camp. Wearing a little yellow hat, he followed a bunch of kids onto the plane.
Not many people were flying at this time, so besides Siyuan’s summer camp group, the entire business class cabin was filled with colleagues from the Special Cases Division and Special Affairs Division on normal assignments to Europe—it was like a chartered flight.
At first, Siyuan found it strange. Wasn’t it just him going to France? Why were so many familiar faces here? Only after asking did he understand: this plane used to be the Special Cases Division’s dedicated aircraft, with five round-trip chartered flights per month. Now that the Special Cases Division was disbanded, the plane was integrated into commercial flights but still retained chartered business class missions. These people were all business personnel stationed abroad for the Special Cases Division, rotating in and out. A few of them were under Ling Laoda’s command.
“So, Europe’s situation is actually similar to ours?”
“Yes. Strictly speaking, Europe is more complicated than here. For unknown reasons, the quality of their Mountain and Water Spirits isn’t as high as in the East, but the quantity absolutely overwhelms. So most ghost and monster legends originated from there.”
“So that means… Demon Hunters aren’t very effective?”
“Team Leader Qi, you’re really joking… You know, with such a huge base number of monsters, if not for the Demon Hunters’ work over the years, there probably wouldn’t be many humans left in Europe.”
On the plane, Siyuan crammed to learn what he lacked. As the old saying goes, traveling ten thousand miles is better than reading ten thousand books. He had never been to Europe, so he wasn’t very familiar with the situation there. Although among common folk, there was an inexplicable sense of superiority, thinking white people were stupid, low-level humans, as a race capable of creating brilliant civilizations, how could they be fools? For instance, the only foreigners Siyuan knew were Uncle Dante and Gou Dan, and neither of them were idiots. Since they parted on the cruise ship, Gou Dan had really disappeared without a trace. Siyuan wondered how his recovery was going. If he was really done for, Siyuan felt a bit sorry for this talented young man.
“Pope.”
While chatting, Siyuan suddenly noticed the little Pope sitting next to him struggling to chew a bag of compressed biscuits—and it was still sealed in its plastic wrapper…
“Could you at least not eat so messily?” Siyuan pulled the biscuit from his mouth and tore open the packaging. “This is how you eat it.”
Finally tasting the biscuit, the Pope felt utterly ashamed… He pouted, mumbling strange words, his face full of displeasure.
“Xiaoyu, you must take good care of your Knight.” Siyuan earnestly instructed the Little Mountain Deity, who was wrapped in a blanket and shivering. “Don’t be scared; we’ll be there soon.”
Actually, the Little Mountain Deity looked as if she was sick. Siyuan was frightened at first, but finally Mengling told him this was one of the Earth Spirit’s traits—once her feet left the ground, she would show these symptoms. Not only would she lose all her strength, but she would also become inexplicably weak. However, once she was firmly on the ground again, she would immediately turn back into that unkillable sticky candy no matter what.
This even made Siyuan think that the ancient Greek war god Achilles was also an Earth Spirit—he was the type who lost his fighting ability once his feet left the ground. From this, it seemed foreign myths and Chinese myths were actually connected in many ways. The simplest example was the highly matching Hydra and Xiangliu. Only… due to cultural differences, the understanding was different.
The relatively normal one here was Mengling. Although she was still in her child form, she was a bit nervous because it was her first time on a plane. In her words, she felt like she was being eaten by this big iron bird. Usually, she was the one eating other things; today, suddenly being swallowed felt really awful.
Luckily, ten hours wasn’t too long. Chatting, joking, and dozing off made it pass in a blink. However, it was already deep night when they arrived.
“I’m back! Hahaha!”
The moment the plane landed, as the earth’s energy rushed in, the Little Mountain Deity suddenly sprang up from her seat. With her hands on her hips, she laughed loudly. “Finally alive again… I never want to fly again. So scary…”
Siyuan smiled, stood up, and released his seatbelt. Picking up his luggage and putting on his little yellow hat, he checked his watch. “Alright, children, we’ve arrived. Let’s go have a good meal. It’s nine-thirty; we can just catch dinner!”
“Hooray! Time to eat! Time to eat!” The revived Little Mountain Deity jumped up at the mention of food, grabbing Siyuan’s finger. “Go, go! Let’s eat!”
But when they got off the plane and reached the exit, Siyuan didn’t feel so good. The afternoon sun was really annoying. Because the Little Mountain Deity was afraid of light in the plane, all the cabin windows had been covered, so they didn’t know if it was day or night outside. Coming out, he remembered it was still bright afternoon here.
“I forgot about the time difference…” Siyuan slapped his head. “Jet lag is so annoying.”
Just then, Ning Qingying called. She said on the phone that she was on her way but had car trouble, broken down halfway, and wouldn’t make it for a while. She told them to wait or, if necessary, go to Marseille to find her.
That’s when the fun began. Siyuan and his four kids were stranded on the road outside the airport. No destination, no contact person, and no money…
Because it was a last-minute decision, Siyuan completely forgot about exchanging currency. He had about three to four hundred Chinese yuan on him, no bank card… All his belongings were in one suitcase, filled with pink bear underwear and cartoon socks. He only had one shirt and one pair of pants in there.
“Big trouble.”
He always knew Ning Qingying wasn’t as reliable as her sister, but he never expected such a sudden mess. Now, Siyuan stood in a country where he didn’t speak the language, with no money, and a bunch of hyperactive kids who wouldn’t listen to anyone. He felt like he wanted to die.
“Mengling, stop staring at people…”
“Xiaoyu!!! Don’t take other people’s bread!”
“Your Majesty… Your Majesty! Don’t run off!”
In less than ten minutes, Siyuan lost control of the situation. In this new place, the little demons went crazy. Mengling found everything new and interesting; the Little Mountain Deity was asking everyone for food; the scariest was the little Pope. He was young and acted strangely, actually arguing with someone dressed like a Priest about the origins of monotheism and polytheism… He even made the Priest want to hit him.
“No choice… Great Summoning Technique!” Siyuan stroked his chin, looked around, saw there weren’t many people, coughed, and whispered, “Ghost Mother…”
Within minutes, a familiar fragrant breeze drifted into his nose, then a pair of warm hands covered his eyes. He felt two soft balloons press against his back from behind. “Guess who?”
“Sis… stop playing. I’m going crazy here.”
