Chapter 147: Merging with Divinity
Chapter 147: Merging with Divinity
After dealing with matters, Su Lun finally started to check his attributes. He added two points to strength, and Su Lun’s strength became forty-four points. His command also increased to eighty-three.
Name: Su Lun (Legendary)
Race: Human Level: Lv22 (23654/60000)
Strength: 44
Agility: 31
Spirit: 26
Constitution: 32
Charm: 20
Command: 83
Besides his previous talents and skills, Su Lun gained an Advanced Combat Reflex talent this time.
[Advanced Combat Reflex: After long, tough training and brushing with death, you react with movements or attacks at any time, so fast that your brain doesn’t need to think.]
After adding his attribute points, Su Lun looked at his biggest gain this time—Divinity.
Though Divine Power is strong, not everyone can merge with it. Divinity is not just simple power; it actually contains will. For example, Divinity obtained from Demons contains emotions like killing, corruption, darkness, chaos, and more.
If you want to merge with a Demon’s Divinity, you must erase the various wills within it. Of course, you can absorb and merge Divinity without erasing these wills, but the consequence is that your personality will be influenced by the Divinity. Originally lawful alignment will shift toward chaos, and good alignment will shift toward evil.
Su Lun did not want a force to influence him. The battlefield of will is dangerous, but this Divinity came from an Ancestral Spirit Troll. Compared to the chaotic, murderous, and disordered Demons’ Divinity, it was much safer.
Some Divinity retains a deity’s core will. Sometimes, unlucky people get controlled by the Divine Will when merging with Divinity, and the remaining deity’s will can even take over and affect your consciousness. In the worst cases, some fallen deities might even revive using your body.
Of course, such revived deities are not the deities themselves but new deities born from the deity’s consciousness.
Many deities have their own traits. For instance, the God of Killing enjoys slaughter, and the God of Murder and Lies loves all sorts of schemes. Among deities, there have always been those with peculiar personalities, often influenced by residual wills in their Divine Power.
This is why some deities seem like they have mental illnesses…
Divinity is dangerous, but basically no one gives it up, as it’s the first step for mortals to become deities. Without great wisdom, perseverance, and luck, it’s impossible to succeed. More people give up along the way.
To merge with Divinity, Su Lun specially found a quiet room, told everyone not to disturb him, and adjusted himself to his best state before starting the merge.
“System, merge with Divinity!”
“Divinity begins merging!”
A golden power started to enter Su Lun’s body. Along with this power came a strong will. After choosing to merge with Divinity, his consciousness was instantly pulled into a dream.
In the dream, he appeared on a battlefield full of enemies—Goblins, Kobolds, Gnolls, Ogres, humans, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs—all were there. Su Lun had to fight everyone, killing all these humans or monsters.
He didn’t know how long he fought, but eventually the space around him cleared, all enemies killed by him. After that, Su Lun heard countless voices praying in his ears. He “saw” a Troll Tribe start from weakness, slowly develop, continuously fight and grow, then hold grand sacrifices with their prey, followed by scenes of his conquests.
This Divine Power wanted Su Lun to become a Troll. Su Lun naturally refused. Their consciousnesses clashed repeatedly. The residual consciousness in the Divinity turned into a Troll and attacked him again. But as a defeated foe, Su Lun was not afraid. After a fierce fight, he killed the Troll once more.
As the Troll died, the residual consciousness in the Divinity began to fade. Su Lun swallowed it without hesitation. Then, a glint of Divine light flashed in his eyes, and the System’s prompt sounded in his ears.
“Divinity merge successful!”
“You merged with 2 points of Divinity. Current Divinity value is 2/10 points [Minor Divinity].”
“You automatically mastered the skill [War Roar].”
[War Roar (Divine Ability)] (Beginner): You successfully merged with the Ancestral Spirit Troll’s Divinity. When you concentrate and channel energy to your throat, you can unleash an unimaginable sonic wave. Everyone around you will suffer a sonic attack. They must pass a constitution check with a difficulty of (10 + Divinity value). At the same time, everyone will take damage equal to (10 + Divinity value) from the sonic wave (ignores defense). If they fail the check, they will be stunned. The skill effect decreases with distance.
Su Lun was also very surprised when he saw the War Roar skill. He had personally experienced War Roar. If his constitution wasn’t high enough, the sound could knock someone out directly. Even with high constitution to withstand it, they’d still take damage that ignores defense.
However, his skill was far weaker than that of the Ancestral Spirit Troll he killed. After all, that Ancestral Spirit Troll had learned the skill for a long time and already upgraded it to advanced level. That sudden burst back then took over twenty health points. If his constitution had been around twenty at the time, he would probably have been stunned immediately.
This skill wasn’t very strong for Su Lun now, but if he practiced it to advanced level and charged into Barbarian Warriors shouting, probably more than half would be stunned. Those Barbarian Warriors’ constitution was only around twenty.
The skill’s effect is tied to Divinity. If Divinity is strong, the skill is more powerful. Right now, the skill isn’t very useful at Legendary Level, but below Legendary Level, it’s practically a crowd-clearing skill. One shout, and everyone is stunned.
Next, Su Lun sensed the Divine Power. He didn’t inherit the Energy Force Field like the one the Ancestral Spirit Troll had. That was probably Divine Power the Ancestral Spirit gained from the Troll Tribe’s long-term worship, a special field activated using Divine Power.
Su Lun now only had a bit of Divinity. He was now a Divine Creature, though the weakest kind. Deities possess Divinity, Divine Spark, and Divine Power to be a complete deity. Beings like the Troll Tribe’s Ancestral Spirit can only be called Divine Essence Spirits.
The weakest Lesser Deity has at least ten Divinity points, plus Divine Spark and Divine Power bonuses, far beyond what a Divine Creature can match.
