Chapter 94: Development (2)

Heatherway needed a quiet place to drink the Magic Potion. Su Lun prepared a special room in the Lord’s Castle for her. Everyone stayed far away, and Barbarian guards were placed outside to protect her.

Heatherway’s leveling up went smoothly. Su Lun clearly felt the nearby Elemental Energy gathering towards the room. This state lasted about three hours before things calmed down again.

Another two hours passed. The tightly shut door opened. Heatherway walked out, her face full of joy. Seeing Su Lun and Chris, she excitedly rushed over to them.

“I succeeded! I’m now an Intermediate Wizard!” Heatherway hugged them both tightly, shouting excitedly. It took a while before she finally calmed down.

Su Lun also opened Heatherway’s status panel to check.

This level-up not only improved her Wizard profession, but her Warlock profession also advanced. The power in her bloodline improved her physical condition. Spirit saw the biggest increase, jumping five points. Four points came from the awakening potion, and one point was likely a benefit from leveling up.

Her talents and skills had also changed. Elemental Affinity had upgraded to Moderate Elemental Affinity, and she gained ‘Magic Return’, an effect of the awakening potion. Some of the spells were ones she hadn’t learned before due to insufficient strength, while others came from the further awakening of her Warlock bloodline.

“Alright, level-up complete. Now hurry up and make those Magic Items,” Su Lun said, ruffling Heatherway’s hair. Her burgundy locks became completely messy.

Hmm, previously it was about (. )( . ) but now it’s ( · Y · ). Definitely graduated from a C to a D.

“Big Sister Chris, look! This greedy Noble’s face. He can’t wait to squeeze me dry the moment I level up,” Heatherway complained, escaping Su Lun’s hand and hiding behind Chris.

“It’s fine. You rest first; those things can wait. They aren’t urgent,” Chris said with a smile.

“Alright,” Su Lun shrugged his hands.

After becoming an Intermediate Wizard, Heatherway got much better at making Magic Items. She finished crafting a leather armor and a cloak in just two days.

These two Magic Items were made from the hide of the Ragewind Magic Tiger. They looked quite good.

[Cloak (Unnamed): Intermediate Magic Item, Material: Ragewind Magic Tiger hide, Defense +3, Warmth, Additional Spells: Minor Haste Spell 1/day, Featherfall Spell 1/day, Disguise Spell 1/day]

Minor Haste Spell: Upon activation increases speed by twenty percent. Duration: ten minutes.

Featherfall Spell: Upon activation reduces body weight. Falling from a height causes no injury. Duration: ten minutes.

Disguise Spell: Upon activation blends the user with surroundings. Hard to detect. Effect ends upon movement. Duration: one hour.

[Leather Armor (Unnamed): Intermediate Magic Item, Material: Ragewind Magic Tiger hide, Defense +8, Flexible Movement, Additional Effects: Reduces spell damage received by ten percent, Reduces physical damage received by ten percent, Additional Skills: Minor Great Strength Spell 1/day, Minor Haste Spell 1/day.]

Minor Great Strength Spell: Upon activation increases user’s Power by 3. Duration: ten minutes.

Minor Haste Spell: Upon activation increases movement speed by twenty percent. Duration: ten minutes.

Both Magic Items were decent. The cloak was more suitable for Scouts, with all three bonus spells being useful. The leather armor was better for Warriors on the front lines. Importantly, wearing these magic items didn’t interfere with using normal gear.

For example, a Barbarian could wear this leather armor under a Half-plate Armor, gaining both the armor’s effects and the iron armor’s defense. Similarly, the cloak could be worn over Chainmail and other armor. Why not just use Iron Armor? Well, have you ever seen Scouts lug around heavy Iron Armor?

“Pretty good. Go ahead and make more of both types of gear,” Su Lun said after inspecting both items, looking pleased.

“According to my calculations with the Ragewind Magic Tiger hide you gave me, I can make six such cloaks and ten pieces of leather armor. We can also cut a few blank Magic Scrolls from the remaining hide. Do you agree? If so, I’ll make them this way.” Heatherway handed Su Lun a cutting plan.

“Go ahead with your plan,” Su Lun agreed after a quick glance.

“Oh! I almost forgot to tell you. I can work with the Ogre materials now too,” Heatherway declared proudly, her expression practically begging, ‘Come on, praise me!’

“You’ve done well,” Su Lun praised her.

After almost two months of construction, the water supply system in the Territory was almost complete. A four-kilometer-long Aqueduct stood beside the Red Sand River, alongside four massive water wheels over thirty meters tall. A Reservoir large enough to hold a thousand cubic meters of water had been built.

Such a Reservoir could easily supply a city of tens of thousands. The Territory’s water pipes were made of fired clay, with joints molded by Su Lun using his Turn Mud to Stone technique. These pipes ran to every household within the Territory. Indoor plumbing used iron pipes.

The ancient Romans disliked iron because it rusted, so they used lead pipes instead. Sure, the pipes didn’t rust, but then the Romans suffered from lead poisoning. While not the direct cause of the Roman Empire’s fall, drinking lead-contaminated water long-term lowered their physical fitness and birth rates, among other problems.

“Ding! City Water Supply System complete.”

[City Water Supply System: Uses large water wheels for power. An Aqueduct links the system. A large Reservoir filters sediments and disinfects the water. Uses pipes made of fired clay and iron to deliver water. Water Supply +15, Clean Disinfection +15, Durable +20, City Beauty +10, Popular Support +2, Security +1, Prosperity +5. A good water supply gives residents a stronger sense of belonging. Clean, convenient water sources make the city more prosperous.]
