Chapter 67: Trade
Chapter 67: Trade
Robert did not try to uncover the town’s secrets. Whoever could establish a foothold here and enslave so many Goblins and Gnolls was, in his opinion, definitely not a simple character. If his curiosity led him to discover their secret, he didn’t think he’d get out unscathed. It was well known that every year, no fewer than eight or ten merchant Caravans went missing in the Wilderness.
In a place like the Northern Wilderness, you didn’t even need to cover your tracks after killing someone. The Goblins, Kobolds, and Gnolls out there would destroy all traces completely.
To Robert’s surprise, the person managing the Territory was actually Su Lun’s personal maid. And this maid was incredibly beautiful. Robert swore she was one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen in his life. Another surprise was that he ended up trading goods with her at the lowest possible price.
During the negotiation, he felt completely led by the nose, and in the end, he somehow just agreed. By the time he realized what had happened, the goods had already been exchanged…
Su Lun lay in a rocking chair, tasting the black tea he had just bought from Robert. Chris knelt beside Su Lun’s right hand, wearing a black and white maid outfit. The loose maid dress didn’t look bulky on her at all. Her tall, slender figure was faintly visible beneath the skirt. Her fair skin looked like fine jade, and her elegant demeanor made her seem just like a well-bred Noble lady.
“Are these all the details about that Robert?” Su Lun took a small sip of the black tea and said with a light laugh.
“Yes, Master. This Robert even told me about how he peeped at the neighbor’s sister bathing when he was a child.” Chris gracefully took the teacup and refilled it for Su Lun.
“Since we know his background now, he’ll do.” Su Lun thought for a moment and said.
“Besides selling Robert some White Sugar, have Ji En take the Caravan to Karlt City. I need more people to know about White Sugar.”
“As you wish, Master.” Chris said respectfully.
Su Lan looked at Chris with interest. “It seems you’re adapting quite well.”
“Does Master like it?” Chris tilted her head and showed a charming smile.
“Not bad.” Su Lun smiled. “Oh, and next time you brew tea, don’t add milk and sugar.”
Chris found Su Lun’s request a bit strange. To be honest, she had tried the black tea before, and it tasted somewhat bitter. Because of this, she had asked Robert how black tea was supposed to be drunk. Then, following the Florentia Noble way of drinking tea, she added fresh milk and sugar to the tea, making it sweet, rich, and smooth. But judging by Su Lun’s expression, he didn’t like this kind of tea.
Chris couldn’t understand what was so good about that bitter-tasting black tea, but Su Lun seemed to really like it.
“Master, how much White Sugar did you sell to Robert this time?” Chris asked.
“How much White Sugar is in stock right now?”
“Last night, the Sugar Workshop warehouse had six hundred bags of White Sugar. Each bag weighs two jin.”
“Sell him fifty jin of White Sugar, priced at one hundred and fifty Gold Nar per jin.” Su Lun thought for a moment and said, then put down his teacup and stretched.
“After this trade is done, tell Robert to bring some daily necessities next time. Things like clothes, quilts, pillows, and so on. If you need anything, you can also tell him to bring it.”
It had been two months since he came to the Wilderness, and he was almost starting to forget what it was like to sleep on a big bed covered with Velvet. Now that he had the White Sugar Trade, he wasn’t going to deprive himself any longer. Moreover, with Chris as the steward, Su Lun was finally free from tedious, repetitive chores.
After listening to Chris’s report, Su Lun went to the training ground at the Lord’s Castle. This was a training ground he had specially built for his daily practice. Since coming to this world, he had rarely skipped his daily training. Although the daily training didn’t give many Experience Points, it could improve his weapon proficiency.
In the System, when weapon proficiency reached a certain level, he would acquire a special killing move. These killing moves were very powerful and, unlike skills, didn’t consume magic power; they only used up some stamina.
Su Lun’s highest weapon proficiency was with the spear, followed by the longsword. He only dabbled a bit with other weapons, as his energy and time were limited, and he couldn’t possibly master all weapons.
In tight spaces or indoors, he preferred using the longsword. Of course, his best weapon was still the spear. Men were naturally good with spears; they had an innate talent bonus. Moreover, if you practiced spear techniques well, they were twice as effective against female enemies. Just look at how obedient Chris was now.
…
“Mr. Ji En, what did Miss Chris want to see me about today?” Robert grabbed Ji En’s hand with one hand and, with the other, secretly slipped him a heavy purse.
Ji En weighed the purse in his hand, hearing the pleasant clinking sound of Gold Nars inside. His face blossomed like a chrysanthemum. “Brother Robert, don’t worry. This time it’s definitely good news, and it’s very good news indeed.”
After pocketing the heavy purse, Ji En then led Robert to the Lord’s Manor.
Along the way, Robert racked his brains trying to figure out what the benefit could be. Several times he couldn’t resist asking Ji En, but Ji En just smiled and shook his head.
Soon, the two arrived at the gate of the Lord’s Manor. Ji En announced them to the Barbarian Warriors guarding the gate. After receiving permission, they entered the Lord’s Manor.
“Good afternoon, beautiful Miss Chris.” Robert bowed seriously. He didn’t dare underestimate this stunningly beautiful woman anymore; the trade a few days ago still made him apprehensive.
“No need for formalities, Mr. Robert. Please, have a seat.” Chris said with a smile, snapping her small whip with a sharp crack. Then a Barbarian girl came in and served two cups of tea.
“Thank you.” Robert sat in the chair but didn’t touch the tea. Instead, he asked directly, “Miss Chris, may I ask why you summoned me today?”
“There are indeed some matters.” Chris lounged lazily in her chair. Her long, pale fingers with their bright red nails were particularly alluring.
“If you try that cup of tea, you’ll understand.”
Although Robert found it a bit strange, he still picked up the teacup. The tea was a light red color, exactly the black tea he had sold not long ago. He blew on it carefully and took a sip. A sweet taste immediately burst onto his taste buds.
“Is this… honey?” Robert’s eyes lit up. “No, honey has a slight sourness. This tea is purely sweet. This is White Sugar?”
“Mr. Robert, it is indeed White Sugar.” Chris said with a bright smile. “This is what we want to discuss today. Are you interested?”
