Chapter 95: Run
Chapter 95: Run
While Zuo Zhicheng and the others explored the ruins, some disturbances were gradually emerging in Xinlu Port.
In the west of the city, at the Dragon Fist Society.
A series of crashing sounds was heard as a martial arts master smashed through a window and flew out of the room, landing on the ground. He then spat a mouthful of blood and collapsed, unable to get up.
A group of Dragon Fist Society students rushed out and gathered around their master.
One of them pointed at the big man who leisurely walked out of the room and said, “Rihuo, you’ve gone too far.”
“You fought so viciously, you did it on purpose, didn’t you?”
Seeing the crowd’s rising anger, Rihuo rubbed his head and showed a sinister grin. “On purpose, my ass. I fought your master fair and square, and he couldn’t even take one punch from me. He’s just trash.”
Noticing the furious expressions on the faces of the Dragon Fist Society students, Rihuo spat and laughed. “What? Not happy? Then who wants to fight me? If any of you can beat me, I’ll even kowtow and apologize.”
But since Rihuo had just defeated their master with a single punch, none of the students dared to challenge him. They could only watch him leave.
“Damn, a bunch of useless trash. All that martial arts training was for nothing.”
Hearing Rihuo’s words, the Dragon Fist Society members felt even more ashamed, and the anger in their eyes grew stronger. Several students couldn’t hold back and charged at him, but Rihuo knocked them down with a few punches and kicks, leaving them spitting blood.
In the end, they could only watch arrogantly as he walked away.
On the street opposite the martial arts school, a member of the Shadow Corps asked, “Boss, is it really okay to ignore this? This is already the second school, and it’s also one that’s friendly with Jiang Tianzheng.”
Lin Ganghao, chewing on a steamed bun while watching Rihuo’s departing figure, replied, “Xiao Jingyang wants to unite the eighteen martial arts schools and become the martial arts alliance leader of Xinlu. He’ll either use money or fists. The neutral ones have already been bought off with money. But the remaining ones are tough and have good relations with the Haoran Martial Hall.”
“This is a fight between dragons and tigers. We don’t need to interfere. Once the Martial Arts Association is unified, it’ll be more beneficial for our next plans.”
A teammate nearby curled his lip disdainfully. “Dragons and tigers? Rihuo’s skills have improved so much that probably none of the other schools can match him. If they get challenged every couple of days, how can they keep operating?”
…
Meanwhile, inside the cave, the group was still discussing whether to go deeper or leave by boat when violent roars echoed from above them once again.
“Damn, is it them again?” Tang Xianghui’s face turned pale as she looked up at the ceiling and the cave walls deep in the cavern, but it was pitch black, and she couldn’t see anything.
However, Zuo Zhicheng’s Night Vision Eyes could see much farther. In the shadows, he saw numerous figures—the same kind of monsters as before—stretching as far as he could see.
“There are at least a thousand of them. They’ve all come out.” As he spoke, Zuo Zhicheng moved deeper into the cave. “Get inside quickly. We can’t hold the stone platform outside.”
He then picked up a torch and led the way in. Tang Yuan, behind him, wanted to say something, but in the darkness, tiny green dots of light began to appear one after another, like stars in the sky, covering the entire cave wall densely.
But this sight only brought an overwhelming chill, because each pair of tiny lights was a monster’s eyes.
“Get in now!”
Following Zuo Zhicheng’s shout, the remaining three rushed inside. Within seconds of their entry, dozens of monsters leaped onto the stone platform. They glared fiercely, continuously uttering chaotic roars from their mouths.
The most ferocious ones even tore the boat Zuo Zhicheng and the others had left behind into pieces.
Shortly after, some monsters charged into the cave entrance, while others climbed up the cave walls, heading to an unknown location. Clearly, the interior spaces were interconnected through fissures in the ceiling.
Inside the cave, the group ran swiftly inward. Except for Zuo Zhicheng, the others could only follow behind, without even time to observe the surrounding terrain. Behind them, the roars of countless monsters echoed continuously through the cave.
Qingyue Qiu ran at the back. Earlier on the boat, she hadn’t needed to move much, but once inside the cave, she struggled to keep up with the other three, who possessed the Innate Primordial Breath. With her ordinary physique, she quickly felt extremely exhausted.
After just thirty seconds, her lungs burned, and her legs ached as if cramping. Combined with the uneven cave floor and the flickering torchlight from Zuo Zhicheng and Tang Yuan, which created confusing shadows, she finally slipped and fell toward the ground.
Panic set in, and she waved her arms wildly, trying to break her fall. It was the first time she had been in such a mess since mastering the Dao Arts.
But before she hit the ground, a strong arm grabbed her. Zuo Zhicheng, who had run back to her side without her noticing, lifted her under his arm.
“You’re too slow.” Saying this, Zuo Zhicheng threw away his torch, grabbed Tang Yuan with one hand, and flung him onto his back. Then, he seized Tang Xianghui and tucked her under his other arm.
The whole process was as smooth as taking something from a bag. Tang Xianghui and Tang Yuan didn’t even have time to react or resist before Zuo Zhicheng was carrying them.
A sense of shock flashed through their minds as Zuo Zhicheng continued, “Hold on tight.”
The next moment, a loud crash came from under Zuo Zhicheng’s feet as he shattered a large rock. He then shot forward like an arrow, the sound of rushing air echoing through the cave. The fierce wind whipped against their faces, almost forcing Qingyue Qiu to close her eyes.
“Ah!” Tang Xianghui let out a scream. Surrounded by darkness, she couldn’t see anything, only hearing the howling wind in her ears.
Meanwhile, Tang Yuan let out a strange cry and shouted, “Ghost Fist, I have a question for you.”
“I don’t have time to answer now.”
“You must not be human, damn it!”
Carrying over two hundred kilograms of weight, he still moved as fast as a galloping horse. Moreover, with the torches gone and everything pitch black, he could still advance.
He naturally didn’t know that in Zuo Zhicheng’s previous life, carrying over fifty pounds of equipment through more than ten kilometers of jungle and mountainous terrain was a regular occurrence. Now, with his enhanced physical abilities, such tasks were even easier.
In the complete darkness, aided by his Night Vision Eyes, he could clearly see the terrain and move quickly.
After running at high speed through the winding, downward-sloping cave for about fifteen minutes, Zuo Zhicheng finally spotted a faint glow in the distance.
The cave exit was finally in sight.
